Anthony had been for a run. It may not have been the best time of day for running, but it was the best time of day for girls to be out to see him run and he had been relishing in that time frame. He was wearing tight running shorts and no shirt and now, as he made his way back to the frat house, he had a towel draped over his neck and a water bottle attached to his mouth.
This was the most voyeuristic part of his run, the walk back home. Greek Row was where a lot of the sorority sisters lounged outside in tiny bikinis tanning, so the muscles he made right now were the most important. If he didn't turn at least half of the heads on the lawn, then today was a failure and he should just give up. Luckily, he did turn the heads and he acknowledged this to himself with a small grin of triumph.
After a few minutes of rubbing himself down with the towel and probably less eyes on him than he thought there were, he forgot about not acknowledging his public. As he stood up to walk inside, he turned to grin at a cluster of girls in chaise lounges and, in doing so, collided with someone.

Jayden had wanted to sleep for hours but he had woken up WAY to early in the morning. It had still been dark out when he had discovered he was unable to stay still for longer than 5 seconds without starting to vibrate in place. He managed to remember to his running drawstring backpack which had two water bottles, his wallet, at least 6 granola bars, and spray-on sunscreen as he took off from his dorm. He started to run around the edge of the campus, trying to get a feel for how it was all spread out, wanting to do something useful with his time. When sunlight started to streak through the sky, Jayden sprayed on a layer of the sunscreen, because being burned would make his inability to sit still even worse.
So he proceeded to jog around and around and around the campus until the other students started giving him weird looks. At that point he figured he could go run in greek row and maybe see who all, if anyone, was at the frat house. Perhaps that could yeild a running partner? Or if no one was there the run back would get enough energy out that he could to go back to sleep. It was unlikely, but hope was a beautiful thing.
That was how Jayden ended up at the frat house. He could tell by the lack of noise in the house that very few people, if anyone was there and awake and decided to try sleeping again. However, when he went out the front door he walked right into someone.
"Whoops!" Jayden grinned apologetically towards the person who he ran into. "Sorry about that, I wasn't watching where I was going." It took him a second but he recognized the guy he had just run into as the President of his fraternity. A-something, he thought his name was.

Anthony had hoped it was a girl he'd run into, but from the feel of things, it definitely wasn't. He straightened up and jumped back, all in one fluid movement, raising his hands in defense. "Whoa, sorry," he said, looking the guy up and down. He looked a little familiar, so Anthony stopped and wiped himself down a bit more, studying him.
"Don't worry about it. I wasn't paying attention." Anthony may not have had much of a heart, but he did have manners and even he knew that it was at least a little bit his fault. "Are you one of the pledges?" he asked, taking another swig of water. If he was, he was on the right track--running in front of tanning girls was always a thing that Anthony admired in people. It made him see a little bit of himself in them.

Jayden watched as the president wiped himself down. He supposed that that was part of his ritual after doing whatever he had been doing that made him sweat. It seemed a bit weird to wipe down instead of shower but whatever the guy wanted to do jayden figured he could do.
"Yep!" Jayden bounced up to his toes. He thought about what he could say after that but came up with no answer. In lew of words, Jayden decided to smile at the guy in what he felt was a friendly way.

OH MY! There is something shiny to Anthony's left! It is pretty well buried in the grass, but the sun just glinted off of it, sending a small circle of light onto Anthony's leg, most visible to Jayden.

Since it was on his own leg, Anthony didn't notice the light, just that something was reflecting into his eyes. He averted them and the problem was solved and he thought nothing more of it, turning to Jayden with his politician smile. Anthony was good at remembering names when he put his mind to it and, though he was not prone to remembering male names over female names, being in the fraternity had given males a higher priority than they'd previously had.
"Your name is Jason, right?" he asked, pointing at him. He wasn't sure if that was accurate, but he thought it was close enough. He knew most of the pledges by face and at least the first letter of their name. There were too many for him to know all of them until they made their selection.

Jayden saw the light and was distracted by its shining. He started looking for what had caused it. He couldn't really see it at first look and discarded the idea of looking hard for it. When he turned back to the president he was wearing a slightly creepy smile. It looked like the one people at his parents fancy parties wore all the time.
"Not quite but very close" he said. "Its actually Jayden." It was closer than he would have remembered if he was the one trying to remember names of large groups of people. He supposed that was part of the job description. "I'm sorry but I've forgotten what your name is."

Anthony shifted to the left so that he could extend a hand to Jayden. "Anthony Beaumont. President of Delta Kappa Epsilon." They had probably met before, but it never hurt to be polite. "Sorry about the name incident, I'm usually very good with them."
Anthony always thought that it was important to socialize with the new pledges, even when he wasn't the president, because then they could really get a feel for who would and wouldn't be accepted. This Jayden was a little weird, but he seemed nice enough.

WHAT NOW?
Anthony has tripped over a hidden item buried in the ground!

Anthony wasn't expecting to trip on anything because he hadn't really moved much, so when he did, he cursed. "What the hell?" he said, balancing himself. He looked down at the ground to see something buried (but poking out?). He was going to dig it up, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to stick his hands in the dirt. He looked at Jayden.
"Can you tell what it is?" he asked. The corner of it that he could see looked like something familiar. He bent down to try to pull it out, poking at the dirt as much as he could without getting it under his fingernails.

When Anthony tripped, Jayden wasn't sure what was going on. He was confused as to how standing could result in tripping. Unless that was what all the older guys did?
After shaking his confusion off Jayden reached towards the ground. "I can't tell with it mostly burried" he said digging around the object. "Got it!" Jayden tugged the thing from the ground. "It looks like a phone." He looked at it, flipping it upside down to see the other side.

Relieved that he hadn't had to stick his hands in the dirt, Anthony leaned forward to look at the phone more closely. When he got a good look, he frowned. "I know that phone," he said, plucking it out of Jayden's hands without thinking how rude that might be. He turned it over, looking at the girly green color and the engraved initials, and his frown deepened.
"This is Kenny's phone. Have the police been looking for this?" he asked, hoping that Jayden had kept more up to date than he had. He felt guilty, since Kenny had been his brother for four years, but how could he be expected to keep up with the news? He had other things to do.

When the phone was snatched from his hands Jayden wasn't too worried about it. It wasn't like it was his phone. "You know the phone?" Jayden supposed that one of the members could have lost their phone.
Kenny. Why was that name familiar? WAIT! That must have been the name of the guy who had gone missing a while ago. "I'm not sure that they have been looking for it per say but they would probably like to get their hands on it now that it has been found."

Anthony nodded, rubbing some dirt off the phone screen. He doubted it would be charged, having been buried in the yard for...a period of time?, so he looked up at the house.
"Think we should bring a charger?" he asked, looking back at Jayden. He looked down at himself. "And maybe shower?"

Jayden only spared a moment to think of answers for Anthony. "I bet that they will have a charger there."
As for Anthony's showering question, Jayden wasn't quite sure how to answer that. A shower would be nice but if they were just going to run down to the station then it might be a bit useless. "I think that maybe it would be best to just go ahead and run it down there. Probably."
