tutti fruity
Since she and Evander had been spending so much time talking, Juliette had heard countless things about his model-building hobby, but she had yet to actually witness any of these models. It was something she was very interested in, especially since she knew that scale models tended to be tiny and adorable, and so she had finally coerced Evander into showing her--and taking her shopping with him.
Excited was something most people used to describe Juliette with on a regular day, so when she was actually excited, it didn't seem fitting enough. She was standing outside the Hobby Horse now, pushing herself up and down on her toes while she waited for Evander to get there. Juliette often liked to coordinate her outfits with fruit and today, she had gone with watermelon because it was an exciting, watermelon sort of day.
Though she had seen models before, she wasn't entirely sure what they entailed. She didn't know if Evander was going to come prepared with a shopping list [likely, considering he was as thorough as she was] or just walk in and wing it [also likely, because he seemed generally messier], but the anticipation of shopping for tiny things was too much to bear and, as she waited, Juliette found herself having trouble standing still.

Evander had his hobbies, like anyone else did, and he was the kind of person that spent a lot of time on those hobbies. One could call him a "nerd" for being passionate about things like scale model building, and one might be fairly correct about that, but Evander preferred to think of himself as a jack-of-some-trades. He didn't have all of the trades, but the ones he did have, he was quite good at. He was an architecture minor, so the models did have some academic reasoning behind them, though the truth was that he had started them for fun and mostly worked on them for fun as well.
Despite it just being a hobby, Evander did take a lot of pride in his model building, and so, when he'd described it to Juliette and she'd managed to tear the whole operation to pieces just by calling it "cute," he determined that he didn't want her anywhere near this particular hobby of his. He'd said that, of course, but now here he found himself making his way up to his favorite local hobby shop where he had somehow agreed to meet Juliette so she could "help him shop" for more miniatures. As he was walking up, he saw that she had gotten there before him, and also that she once again dressed like a fruit bowl. Evander rolled his eyes just slightly. Such was the life of a pushover.
"Hey," he said with a little wave from the hand that wasn't stuffed into the front pocket of his hoodie. The other one, that was, was playing with a tiny plastic figurine like the ones they would be shopping for that day. He brought that out as well to hold up and show her. "This is Mike. He's a bartender on 5th Street."

Juliette could not possibly have missed Evander approaching because he was probably the only human on all of Orange Island currently in a hoodie. She beamed and waved, a much more energetic version of Evander's tiny gesture, and then clasped her hands in front of her, clutching the straps of her bag.
"Hi!" she called, rocking on her toes again. She would have run over to him, but she didn't want to seem even more eager than her bouncing entailed, so she stayed put. When he arrived, she also refrained from giving him a hug or something equally embarrassing that she would feel the need to explain until her face matched her outfit. Instead, she leaned in and squinted to see Mike the bartender, trying to contain her squeal of delight at how tiny and adorable he was. She managed to get by with just a small squeak until she pressed her lips together.
"Fifth street where?" she asked, hoping she sounded more intelligent and interested than crazy and interested. She gestured toward the door before turning to walk inside, assuming Evander would follow.
