A lot of people think that Caden is girly because he’s not afraid to get up in anyone’s business. He’s very physically affectionate, even to his male friends, and can frequently be found hugging or throwing an arm around them. This is not strictly due to the fact that he just loves them so much, though, but more the fact that he knows it makes most people uncomfortable and Caden lives to make people as unsettled as he possibly can. He’s obnoxious and loud and says things that make people uncomfortable. Actually, most of the time, he doesn't really think about what he's saying and just says words. A lot of the things he says don't make sense because he takes threads of things he thinks he's heard and just runs with them. A lot of his conversations are nonsensical, especially if the person to whom he is speaking prefers to be sensible and logical in conversation.
Caden tends to flock to logical people more than people like him. That's not to say he doesn't have his crazy friends--because he does--but in general, it's better when he's around someone who can ground him in some sort of intelligence. Caden isn't stupid, but he's not really that smart either. He coasts by on his average levels of intelligence, making more pop culture references than anyone ever needed to hear. Whatever his intelligence, Caden is quick-witted and is never at a loss for words. Be they derogatory, complimentary, or just generally snazzy, Caden has a response to everything. He's got thoughts on things that he doesn't have any need to have thoughts on just because he wants to say words about them and his advice is often not the best. That said, he doesn't ask too many questions if he feels the situation is serious and can be persuaded ish to put on his srs pants.
There are not many things that Caden loves more than gossip. He doesn't care what it is, who it's about, or whether or not it's true--he just likes talking about people and their scandalous lives. He knows all about celebrities [mostly from reading magazines while shirking work] and all about basically everyone. He doesn't spread rumors for the sake of spreading rumors, but he does tend to chat excessively on subjects he probably shouldn't, especially when asked directly. He can be a good friend and will probably keep secrets for you, but it's also possible that he'll get lazy, forget, and accidentally spill them to the first person who asks. He doesn't do this to be malicious--Caden's genuinely a good guy--but he tends to be very loose-jawed and not care enough to fix it.
Caden has a serious case of middle-child syndrome. He got some attention growing up, but not enough for him to be fully satisfied and thus, he has rebelled. When he was younger, he got kicked out of a lot of things, but now he settles for getting kicked out of clubs, bars, restaurants, what have you if he gets particularly bored. He has no shame and is fully unafraid to do whatever he wants, wherever he wants. He talks to everyone like they're his best friend, whether he should be giving them a higher level of respect or not, and he has no real intentions to make anything of himself because he doesn't really care and doesn't think that there is any point in exerting effort so that only he can be proud of himself. He likes his useless job and he doesn't mind his fail cheap apartment, and that's what matters.
Strengths: friendly Caden just likes to talk and as such, he doesn’t really care who it’s to. He likes pretty much everyone, even if he hates them, and has about a zillion friends everywhere on the island.
easygoing He doesn’t hold grudges. He’s just too lazy. Even if someone makes him mad, he’ll forgive them quickly and move on. Things roll of his back like waves.
confident Caden loves himself. Probably a little too much, but that’s okay.
Weaknesses: selfish Caden is very self-serving and often doesn’t think of the consequences of his actions, especially as they relate to others. He does what he wants when he wants.
provocative In every sense of the word. Caden says things to provoke people and he also likes to think that he’s sexy. Very sexy. He’s sexy and he knows it. But it’s the provoking people part that’s the weakness. The sexy part is just an addendum to what I’ve said.
lazy He does not like to work. At all. If something requires effort of any sort, even if it’s fun, he is about 75% less likely to do it.
Talents & Skills: Surfing, selling things, partying.
Weaknesses: Basic tasks that one who lives alone should be able to do, responsibility, paying attention to things.
Likes: rock music, surfing, swimming, boating, girls, parties, being loud, socializing, bright things, talking, a lot, the sound of his own voice, annoying people, flipping his hair, nicknames, bacon, candy, costumes, drinking--especially fruity girly drinks, making fun of stupid people.
Dislikes: Work, exerting himself in any way, long complicated things he must remember, silence, storms, cold weather, running out of candy, rum.

Caden was born two years after his brother, Tristan, and three years before his sister, Briar. Thus, he got two years of being the baby of the family before he was slipped in between the Oldest and the Youngest, who were treated very much as such while Caden was left to his own devices. From an early age, Tristan's older child problems were more important and Briar's baby problems were more important and anything that he did was brushed off with a good job or a mild scolding.
Caden was not necessarily a bad child, he was just an energetic child and most people had a hard time coping with this. The second he learned to say words, he used them copiously and he was always running and getting into things and somehow becoming covered in mud no matter where he went. He was perpetually being scolded, but as no one could really tell him what he was doing wrong--since there was really nothing--, he continued to do it. Since his problems were innocuous--just annoying--Caden's parents didn't feel the need to work at raising him. He was only in kindergarten, unlike Tristan who was starting to get real homework in second grade, and he wasn't starting school for the first time like Briar, so he was shoved aside so that they could make time for them.
They weren't very good at disciplining their children no matter what and even Tristan and Briar were a bit hard to handle at times. They were children raised by the television, since that was much easier than actually raising them, especially when there were three of them. Caden could never sit still for an entire television show and even now has troubles doing so, but they made it work and he did grow up without any real problems. He was, however, very defiant and starting at a young age, he was a bit of a shit in school. He was the boy pulling girls hair, hiding bugs in their desks, and class clowning around.
As soon as he hit puberty, Caden started being nice to girls. Even when he did stupid things, like pick on them or play jokes, he was always cheerful and affectionate about it and this made Caden a big hit with the girls in middle school. While his other friends were too busy mainlining sugar packets and trying to figure out how to deal with the fairer sex, Caden was sitting with them at lunch, being in groups with them, and helping them shop for clothes when they needed it. He got invited to beach outings because he was fun to have around and he got his first kiss at the age of 12 by a girl who was his girlfriend for a week before they mutually decided that they were better as friends.
By the time he got to high school, Caden was a ladies' man. He was a man's man, too. In general, he was friends with every person he came across because he just liked having people to talk to. He wasn't particularly close with anyone because he was so close to everyone and hung out with too many people to have any single person that he spent more time with. He had lots of girlfriends, but he never specifically said the word and so even when he was dating a couple girls at once, he was never cheating on them and he always made it clear to them that they were not in a relationship. He was respectfully a manwhore and always tried his hardest not to hurt anyone's feelings--but in the end, if one of them had to get hurt, Caden was not going to pick himself.
It became apparent, as he turned sixteen and got his license but had nothing to do with it but drive girls in his mom's van [which, for some reason, plenty of them found a little creepy], that he did not actually have as many guy friends as he thought he did. Sure, he had conversations with lots of them, but when it came down to it, he did things with all the girls and all the guys hung out with each other. At parties, he would play beer pong and those sorts of games with them, but he didn't really consider that having "bros" and the realization made Caden a little sad. Sad for Caden, though, just involves a lot of candy and soon [about an hour later] he was back on his feet.
Luckily for him, however, there was a new kid in town [not really--just school] and upon realizing that he was quiet, lonely, and had no friends, Caden latched onto him immediately. Without much say from the other, Caden decided they would be BFFs and thus, they were. Having a best friend fit very well into Caden's life schema, especially because now he always had someone to do things with and to drag to parties. He had a wingman and he could finally be a wingman for someone that he actually cared about. Getting girls for his other guy friends was fun, but it was not nearly as satisfying as getting girls for his best friend and Caden thought that the day that he finally lost his virginity [about a year after Caden] was the happiest day of his life.
Unfortunately for Caden, his new best friend was unnaturally smart and probably going to leave him two years later when it came time to go off to college. Caden had considered applying to colleges, and he would probably have gotten into any state school, at least, but he hated school. His grades were okay, but only because he was pretty smart--not because he did work. Really, he just wanted to move out of his house. If he didn't go to college, though, he'd have to get a job. He'd been working at a souvenir shop for all of his senior year and had saved a bit, but not too much. He had expected to quit it when he went off to college, but once he made the decision to stay and continue working, he was perfectly happy. He was even perfectly happier that his bffl got rejected from every school to which he applied and made little effort to hide this.
His first year was spent living at home and saving up money. For once, he was responsible and didn't spend his money on stupid things--except alcohol--and he biked everywhere instead of taking his mom's van. He considered buying a car, but an apartment was more important and by about April of what would have been his freshman year, he had enough to comfortably live somewhere and earn rent money as he went. To be even more comfortably situated, financially, he bought the shittiest apartment he could find that still had a separate bedroom and bathroom and has been living in Grand Cabana ever since, still selling souvenirs.| A P P E A R A N C E |
When Caden isn't being insane, he prefers to wear jeans and wife beaters. Since it's so hot on the island, the less clothes the better, so sometimes the jeans are foregone for board shorts or cargo shorts. When he is being insane, he covers most of his body in crazy Florida souvenirs--stupid t-shirts, bright visors with palm trees, necklaces with sharks teeth, etc. He is always wearing flip flops, usually even on fancy occasions, and he gets really cranky if his feet are covered. Most of the time, he just looks stereotypically Floridian. He will unashamedly wear Hawaiian shirts [unbuttoned, of course, to flaunt his chest] and silly straw hats.
Because Caden surfs, he's got muscular arms which he very much likes to show off. He's skinny as a rail, but he does exercise a lot and, as such, is very muscular. He's flexible, too, and can often be sound sitting cross-legged or with his legs in odd positions. In general, he could easily be a ballerina based on physique, but he would prefer not to be. He's cat-like in his movements and he tends to walk on his toes. If he were thrown, he would likely either roll and spring to his feet like a cat or just land on his feet.
Since Caden spends a lot of time in the sun, he's much tanner than some pictures of Trent Ford, but his skin tone is naturally light. He's got almost-black hair that tends to get lighter highlights from the sun throughout the year and bright blue eyes. He likes to keep his face scruffy, but sometimes he'll go cleanshaven for awhile and sometimes, he'll even grow it out to a crazy beard or goatee, just to do something ridiculous.
