Upon first meeting her, Juliette can be very intense. Not because she's particularly serious or mean or intimidating, just because she is a little bit insane. Not clinically, though some might argue that she is in some cases, but she certainly can be very crazy. This is mostly because Juliette is a social being and loves talking to people and making friends. She'll talk to anyone who's got a friendly smile or anyone who looks like they need cheering up, which can usually encompass every person in a given room. It often does not matter whether or not they talk back. Juliette could hold a conversation with a rock if she tried and the rock would probably end up talking just from the sheer force of her conversational will. If Juliette has decided that you and she will be friends, then by god, you will be.
Most people don't mind this, however, as Juliette is sweet and a great friend to have around. She usually gives good advice, although sometimes her advice is warranted in faulty magazines she's read and she really doesn't know what she's talking about, but you can always bet that she'll have a logical point of view to bring to the table--sort of. If she needs to be the calm person, she can be, but she's prone to bursts of illogical logic that only she and people who are used to her can follow. She's very frantic and gets easily worked up about silly things, like deadlines and the thought of being late. She likes things to be just so and will go to great lengths to make sure that they remain this way--this is one of the reasons she enjoys being president of things. When she's in charge, things go correctly. People are often hesitant to disappoint Juliette because making her sad would be like kicking a puppy.
Rules are one of the most important things in Juliette's world. They are there for a reason and they should be followed no matter what. She doesn't understand how anyone can break a rule without having some sort of hyperventilation fit like she would and she fully agrees with most punishments. The problem with that, however, is that she is easily swayed. Were the rulebreaker [or lawbreaker] to give her their side of the story, she would likely start to believe it until she was given another side. She's particularly gullible because, aside from one boyfriend mishap, people have never really given her a reason not to trust them and it would never occur to her not to take something that someone said at face value. She believes the best of everyone and everything and will defend that notion to anyone who cares to dispute it.
Perhaps it's because her mother is a professor, but Juliette has spent her life as an avid reader. She has a near photographic memory when it comes to things she's read and she retains most information. School is extremely important to her and she always gets her homework done exactly when it is due. She's not just punctual in life, but early and gets antsy when people are on time or late. Spontaneity is something she would like to think she has, but mostly, she plans out everything carefully. She's very detail-oriented, which is both good and bad. She can be very nitpicky and is prone to correcting people on small things and rattling off facts that no one cares about because she's heard a vague reference. Most of the time, she tries not to because no one seems to ever appreciate it but her mother, but she just can't help that she's a know-it-all sometimes.
Strengths: Leadership Juliette is a take-charge kind of girl. She may be generally frantic, but she's level-headed in a crisis and always knows what to do.
Persistant Being president of everything taught Juliette that, in order to get something done, you had to work for it and she is not afraid to work for what she wants.
Genuine Even though there are a lot of girls like Juliette who are just faking it, she is always genuinely invested in the things she says.
Weaknesses: Pretentious Juliette knows a lot of things. Juliettte knows that she knows a lot of things. Juliette does not like people knowing more things than her. Juliette will correct you.
Gullible Because she's so optimistic and trusting and innocent, she is very easy to convince of things. She's steadfast enough in her values that she usually can't be convinced to do something wrong or upsetting to her, but she's easy to convince of basically everything else.
Anxious Juliette likes to have things just so and will work hard to make sure they are that way. As such, she is easily made nervous and is prone to freaking out, overthinking things, and flailing around crazily.
Talents & Skills: studying, taking notes, planning things, singing, rule following.
Weaknesses: acting [because, apparently, giggling while delivering lines is bad], sports, gardening.
Likes: reading, writing, researching, pink, flowers, candy, parties, talking, having conversations, using words, social interaction, dancing, cute sweaters and skirts, headbands, flats, polka dots, cardigans, trivia, sleepovers, best friends, nail polish, being in charge, planning things, lists.
Dislikes: mean people, black, silence, math [but she's still good at it, dammit >:|], hamburgers, disorganization, being disliked, when it's too hot to wear her usual clothes.

The one thing that Juliette could always tell you about her life was that it involved a lot of cats. Before she and her brother were born, her mother was adamant about helping strays and long into their teens, she was still adopting them. They never had less than three and at one point, they had six. No matter how many they had, though, it didn't change the fact that her father, Daniel, hated cats. Anna Bloom was an activist for the rights of all things and she exercised this ability by being a leading classical scholar with a Ph.D from Oxford and teaching at Leeds University, in England. She met Daniel in a bar when she was 24 and then she and the steadfast accountant were married a year later and have been happily together ever since.
It was five years before they even thought of starting a family. By then, Anna was settled into a comfortable job as a professor at Leeds on tenure track, had published numerous articles, and was preparing to have her first book on Spartan legal documents and customs published that year. She was pregnant almost the second after they decided to try and, nine months later, Hugo was born. It was four years after they before they decided to have another child. Anna was, again, preparing to publish a book--this time a translation of plays--when she got pregnant with Juliette.
Having two children was a lot like having one child, but louder. Juliette was well behaved, but she was still a child and had plenty of energy. As soon as she could walk, she and her brother did not get along and they fought constantly, terrorized each other, and were generally loud and obnoxious. They were a tightknit family, though, and did many things together and with their extended family. Juliette grew up with all of the love and self-esteem that any little girl can have. She was always smart and her parents showered her with appreciation for her achievements. Like her mother, she often corrected people and she always loved reading and educational TV shows.
When she was eight, her mother got offered a job at Yale and so the Blooms packed up and moved to Connecticut. Juliette was sad to leave all of her friends and her family, but since they were the only ones in America, they did go back to England at least for Christmas break every year and usually for a few weeks over the summer. Moving to America was difficult because she didn't fully understand the concept of a time change and why she couldn't call her grandmother whenever she wanted or after four p.m.
Being the new kid was difficult, but being British helped. Everyone loved her accent and she made friends instantly. By the end of her first day of school, she had met her best friend and that hadn't changed, even through years of middle and high school. People flocked to Juliette like a moth to flame because Juliette, even as a child, effervesced. She was always a favorite among teachers and she was very adamant about doing her best on everything and always getting her work done.
Despite the fact that she was fairly popular, Juliette always felt sort of socially awkward and never really knew what to do in life. It didn't help that Lily was crazy and perpetually doing odd things, but as they grew up and entered the awkward tween years, they became determined to fit in more. It didn't involve much changing of their style--just figuring out exactly how to best wear their styles. Juliette could still wear as much pink as ever, but the fashion magazines told her how to layer and what matched with what. She learned how to apply makeup well, bought lip gloss, and by the time she entered highschool, she was like an adorable little pixie.
This was good because it ushered her into the popular crowd at their high school almost instantly. She was a natural to lead things and she soon became the freshman class president. Even though she was popular, Juliette was always nice to everyone and this made her particularly popular because she was also actually liked. It was only natural that boys would start flocking to her soon and they did. Overwhelmed with the fact that she wanted a boyfriend and had never had this much male attention before, she allowed everyone else to pick the best prospect and ended up with a sophomore on the football team.
Now that she had a boyfriend, however, she was under some srs pressure to learn how to kiss. She pored over magazines, asked advice, and finally, when it came time to the big moment, was prepared with some really strange tips and tricks. She needn't have worried, however, because her boyfriend's kissing skills were seriously lacking. It was like an alien invasion in her mouth. They only dated for three weeks before Juliette had to gently let him go. She didn't want to be known as a serial boyfriend haver, but soon there were, yet again, boys clamoring for her attention. Again, she selected a jock and the process began again.
She had at least five boyfriends during her freshman year because none of them seemed to have any idea what they were doing, which was not good for Juliette who also had no idea what she was doing. When she was a sophomore, however, she met Brian. Brian was the nicest, the most suave, and everyone loved him. He was a senior and on the football team and Juliette, though he was always nice to her, never thought that he would ever actually look her way. He did, though, and by October, they were the most talked about couple. Juliette was blissfully, wonderfully happy. Brian was a great kisser, he was very straightforward, and he was attractive.
Unfortunately, this bliss only lasted a few months before Juliette realized that she and Brian were completely wrong for each other. She had to check her chatting around him, he didn't like when she talked about academics or school work because he was kind of dumb, he was very selfish, and he had started trying to go further than she'd wanted to with her mouth. He was graduating, though, and she didn't want to ruin his senior year by dumping him. She was one of two sophomores at prom that year and she spent most of it sitting on the sides waiting for Brian. She didn't begrudge him this last opportunity to dance with his friends, she just wished he would have been more considerate.
She expected to break it off by the end of summer at the latest, but that summer, Brian actually seemed to change. Maybe it was because he knew he was leaving it all behind, but he was suddenly more appreciative of everything, especially Juliette. They spent almost every day together--at the park, the beach, the movies, the mall. All of the romantic things she'd ever wished he'd do were crammed into that one last summer and when it came time for him to leave, she cried and they decided ot to break up. He promised to call every day and they would videochat and talk online and everything.
Junior year was a melancholy occasion for Juliette. She missed her boyfriend, despite the fact that she was now president of the Junior class as well as three other clubs and had more things and homework from her AP classes to busy her than she could really handle. She supposed this was where it all started to go downhill. She and Brian tried to talk every day, but they just didn't have much to say without being able to snuggle and after the novelty of college had worn off, Brian's depictions of his day became sketchy at best. Juliette started preferencing her homework over her boyfriend.
Eventually, around October, she decided she should visit him. His school was only an hour away and so easy for her to drive to. She figured she'd surprise him, but though she managed to find and park by his dorm, she didn't know what his room number was. It turned out that she didn't need to, however, because she soon saw the back of his head with manicured hands running through it. Those hands were attached to arms which were attached to a girl in tiny pajamas, who was also attached to Brian at the lips. Not wanting to cause a scene--especially not as a tiny high school girl in a college dorm--she took a picture as discreetly as possible and snuck out.
She drove all the way back home before she had decided on a course of action, the meat of which was to text him the picture she had taken. He was all apologies and excuses, but Juliette couldn't be too mad. She was hurt, of course, but deep down, she'd always expected it and so she and Brian were over without much regret, except that they'd been together this long. Deciding to give the boyfriend thing a rest, Juliette didn't date again until senior year. Whenever there was a dance, she of course had a date, but it was always strictly platonic.
Senior year, she started out single and student body president, but by Thanksgiving, she was with the soccer captain. He was very nice, but very stupid and he treated her well and that was all that mattered to her, especially now that she was under the stress of picking colleges. She wanted to go to an Ivy League, but the problem with that was picking one. She thought she probably could have gotten into any one of them--especially Yale, since her mother taught there--but she didn't know how far from home she wanted to go. Her brother had gone to a criminal justice school in Florida, so she wouldn't have minded going there, but the Ivies were all up north.
Eventually, she decided on Harvard or Princeton and applied to both as well as nine different safety schools, including Hugo's. She heard back from her safeties relatively quickly and was unsurprised [but still pleased] to find out that she got into all of them. When the night before her upcoming acceptance came, Juliette couldn't sleep and was out of bed at midnight to check.
It was not the happy day that it was supposed to be. Despite her straight As throughout all of school, her AP classes, and zillions of extra curriculars, she only made the waiting list for Princeton and Harvard denied her outright. Since she had pull, her mother called to find out why and they said it was a lottery and she lost. Juliette could not be consoled, but she also knew that she could not mope for the rest of her life and that she had to pick a college or be a useless bum for life. She'd applied to Brian's college, but there was no way she was going there. She didn't want to go to the state schools in Connecticut because it would be just like high school again. She had no desire for the University of Virginia and being in the mountains, nor did she want to go to Duke or UNC. All she wanted was for Princeton to call and say she made it, but they never did.
Eventually, because Lily had also gotten accepted and because she would at least have a family member there, Juliette decided on Orange Island University. It was small and relatively unknown, but they had a good psychology department and she thought she might like the beach. So, after prom, she dumped her nice boyfriend and they all packed up and moved her down to OI for summer semester to try and jumpstart the healing process.| A P P E A R A N C E |
Anyone looking at Juliette would agree on one thing: she is adorable. She’s dressed in the same schoolgirl conservative style since the beginning of high school. She devoured fashion magazines and has a very distinct way of putting her outfits together. In some ways, she kind of looks like the standard schoolgirl porn fantasy—though she’s unaware of this and would die if anyone ever said anything to her. For the most part, she likes skirts--usually short skirts, but not so short that she would feel uncomfortable wearing them. When she lived up north, stockings and knee socks and cardigans were her main repertoire, but now that she's in a significantly warmer climate, she's had to rehaul. Always, though, she's worn flats, making her look like a delicate, childish ballet dancer.
Even though lots of girls grow out of the long hair stage as they get older, Juliette never did and her strawberry hair falls to her shoulder blades. It is naturally straight and thick and has plenty of volume. She has a headband for every occasion and if there's no headband, there's usually at least a barette or hair clip. Since coming to Florida, she's had to rethink her life decision to always wear her hair down, but she does try because that is her style. Like most [all?] redheads, Juliette is fair-skinned and blue-eyed and burns easily in the sun, so she tried to stay indoors if she's not wearing sunblock. She almost always wears makeup though, now especially since her foundation has an SPF. Even though she would prefer it to be pink, her eyeshadow is usually a neutral shade of brown/beige/gold to match her eyes and her eyeliner is never heavy. She is also rarely found without her trusty tube of cherry crush lip stain.
Juliette is fairly tiny, though not exactly short. At 5'5, she's the same height as her mother, but she's thin and wispy like a ballerina. She can be graceful, at times, but mostly she's just clumsy and trips a lot because she's too intent to get where she's going to pay much attention to her feet. She doesn't have much body definition and her feminine curves are sadly lacking, but she's much happier than she was in highschool with them as they have gotten a little more pronounced and mature. Mostly, she's just dainty looking and even her hands look like they've never done any hard labor in their life--probably because most of the things she does are academic and involve sitting for hours poring through books rather than actual physical work.
